Oh, Happy Day

Reese got her band, or "protective head gear" as someone recently called it, off on Thursday!!! We were so excited and have since been covering her sweet and now visible head with all sorts of bows! Here are a few pics we took just having fun around the house.

Reese got up on all fours today! You would have thought my child just won a gold medal; mommy was so proud!!! She only rocked back and forth once or twice, but she stayed still like that for a while, before getting tired and collapsing back on her tummy! I was really excited, and of course grabbed my camera.

Prunes and Allergies

What does it look like when a baby sneezes while eating prunes? I think it kind of looks like a mustache, or maybe a fu-man-chu!

Aunt Polly

We got some sad news last night... Justin's great Aunt Polly passed away yesterday evening. She would have been 95 on Christmas Eve! Had she not recently had a stroke, I am convinced she may have outlived us all! :) The stroke left her partially paralyzed and unable to speak, and she would not eat so her body just grew week. We are thankful that she is in Heaven with her sister (Justin's Maw-maw) and that she can run and play and be perfectly healthy. But we will miss her so much. Justin lived in South East Texas and because of one reason or another, we had not made it down to his old stompin grounds. However, by the Grace of God, we went there about a month ago so that Aunt Polly could meet her sweet great great niece and first baby for the Cooley children. I am so thankful for that time that we shared with her and the memories we captured! Here are just a few.

Are you an Olympic swimmer?

Last weekend my sister-in-law, Jenna, and I decided to go down to our neighborhood pool and swim laps. When we got there the pool was crowded, but we found a lane that we could both share. So, we hopped in the water and started swimming; All different kinds of strokes, butterfly, back stroke, the most popular one that I can't remember the name of... You get the picture. Apparently our form wasn't the best because not only did I sustain minor injuries by slamming into the lane rope (by the way it's not a soft rope, it's hard plastic), but Jenna pointed out that there was a couple laughing at us laying out by the pool. I figured they were probably just jealous that we were so motivated and were working out while they laid around! :) Anyway, Jenna decided she was going to go lay out while I swam a few more laps. When I got back to the wall after swimming all over the lane, a girl, not let me rephrase... a blonde bombshell was sitting on the side waiting for me. With goggles in hand, she asked if she could share the lane with me. (this was part of the couple that thought we were funny) I took one look at her goggles, and said "Oh, I'm finished anyway!" First of all, who would want to share the lane with me when I could take them out in a split second. And secondly, she had goggles- no fair! I got out to join Jenna and we proceeded to watch as this girl swam, in perfect form might I add. I was wondering how she got down and back so fast, until we realized that she did the wall flip, you know the one that the real swimmers do! Then, her husband jumps in the water in all of his buffness, and loe and behold he is sporting an olympic tattoo on his back! One can only assume there has been some training. We of course, decided we were finished swimming laps for the day. I feel confident if I only had a pair of goggles... :)

YAY!

Ok, I have to share my excitement with the world, or at least the few friends and family members who read this blog. :) We went to Reese's DOC band appointment today and found out that she gets it off in 2 short weeks! Yes, that's right- only 2 more weeks and the band is gone! YAY! I am very excited :)

Sunday morning Reese and I went to go wake up Daddy, and I laid her down to run into the living room for a second. When I came back into the room the two of them looked so cute, of course I grabbed my camera.

Reese's Room

About a week ago, I got the urge to re-arrange Reese's room. I saw a picture of someone else's nursery, and you know how that goes... Suddenly Reese's room needed to be transformed! I like rearranging things anyway, I do it to our living room quite often. So, I thought, what a fun little project for me! We have shelves hung up in Reese's room that my dad and Justin put up. Apparently that was not an easy task, and therefore would not be fun to move. However, my entire vision of her room hung around moving those shelves. I asked my husband about it, and he basically said "no way!" Those who know me know that I usually don't stop there! :) So, he walked out the door for work, and I got to work. First I moved her dresser, then her crib (she wasn't in it of course), then her chair, lamp, etc. Each piece of furniture was moved several times, before I finally considered the project complete; that is for that day! I had decided to rearrange the room and not have to move the shelves. But the next day, I decided the masterpiece was not complete, not even close. So, here I go again... dresser, bed, chair, table, lamp, rug, etc. All of these pieces of furniture made it around the room multiple times, until the room was in the exact location I thought it needed to be. Of course, the next step was moving the shelves. My parents just happened to be coming in that weekend so I called my dad and the conversation went like this... "Daddy, how mad would you be at me if I asked you to move those shelves?" To which he replied "Oh, I'd probably never forgive you!" :) But he brought his tools anyway, just in case. On Sunday before he left, we decided to tackle the project one more time, so, you guessed it- dresser, bed, chair, lamp, table, rug all over again. After putting that room every way we could possibly imagine, we finally got it right. We stood back and admired our work. How did I have everything you ask? Exactly the way it was BEFORE I ever moved anything!!! :) The only thing we did end up moving was the rug from vertical to horizontal. But we had fun doing it. Anyway, here is the finished project!!!
